WHO WE ARE

Whether you're new to Rosewood or just to Friends of Rosewood, we are glad you've stopped by! 

Friends of Rosewood (FoR) is a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit and parent-led volunteer-based organization whose mission is to provide quality enrichment and enhance and assist the educational programs at Rosewood.  Everyone on our board of directors is a volunteer.  Acting as a booster club on behalf of the school, our primary function is similar to what you might expect from a school PTA, except our funds and efforts are 100% focused on Rosewood vs. needing to appropriate the funds we raise elsewhere. 

All Rosewood parents/families - past and present - are considered a member of FoR in addition to our teachers and staff. Some of our parents are working moms and dads, some are stay-at-home with more time to give during the school day. Whatever everyone's personal circumstances, we work together with a common goal to do and donate what we can to support our school and fill in the gaps to offset expenses that are not covered under the official LAUSD school budget -- and this we do mainly through social, community building events both on and off campus and fundraising. Additionally, our board members seek grants and corporate donations whenever possible, and we are always on the lookout for parents who have jobs or special skills that can assist in future program planning for Rosewood. We encourage everyone to come to our meetings as they are the best place to talk to other parents, learn more about upcoming initiatives and have direct influence over the decision-making of where our hard-earned fundraising dollars are being spent.

Our biggest and longest-running fundraising campaign is our Annual School Support Fee Pledge Drive, in which families are asked to budget to cover the educational needs of at least one Rosewood student. We have three different levels of giving, beginning at $150 for the year, and strive for 100% participation. Whatever families are able to contribute, however, is always most welcome and we truly appreciate a pledge at any level. Every donation to our Annual Fund campaign is 100% tax deductible and will directly support educational resources and learning at Rosewood.
